Mother gets life-term imprisonment for killing daughter

A Dhaka court has sentenced a woman and her lover to life imprisonment for killing her two-year-old-daughter 12 years ago.

Judge Syed Arafat Hossain of Dhaka's Special Judge's Court-4 passed the order on Thursday (March 21).

The court also fined them Tk50,000 each, in default, they would have to spend six more months in jail.

The convicts are – Rozina Akter and his lover Sultan Mahmud.

Belal Hossain, bench assistant of the concerned court confirmed the matter.

It is known that the woman went to meet a doctor at a gynae ward in Dhaka Medical College Hospital leaving her daughter to at the doctor’s door on January 3, 2012. Later, her two-year-old was found dead at third flood of nuclear ultrasound center.

On January 5, Nurul Islam, father of the baby filed a murder case with Shahbagh police station. Police arrested Sultan Mahmud. Later, he confessed that he murdered the baby following his extra-marital affairs with Rozina Akter.
