EC announces polls schedule in 152 upazilas

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the upcoming elections to 152 upazilas set to be held on May 8.
Additional Secretary of EC Ashok Kumar Debnath made the announcement after a meeting presided over by Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Habibul Awal at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka on Thursday (March 21).
This time, upazila parishad elections will be held in fourth phase.
According to the election schedule, the deadline for the submission of nomination papers for the first phase polls is April 15, scrutinisation of the nomination forms will be held on April 17, and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is April 22. Symbol allocation is scheduled for April 23.
The elections will be conducted using electronic voting machines (EVMs) in 22 upazilas, while ballot papers will be used for voting in the rest of the upazilas.
Mentionable, voting in the second phase will be on May 23, the third phase on May 29, and the fourth phase on June 5.
