Ex-secretary Prashanta Kumar surrenders in court

Former secretary of rural development and cooperative department of Bangladesh government. Dr. Prashant Kumar Roy has surrendered before the court in a case filed for attaining illegal wealth.

He appeared before the court of Dhaka metropolitan senior special Judge Mohammad As-Sams Jaglul Hossain and sought bail on Sunday (March 24).

Lawyer Rafiqul Hossain moved for him while, Mir Ahammad Ali Salam opposed the bail for Anti Corruption Committee (ACC).

ACC court inspector assistant director Aminul Islam confirmed the news.

There are specific allegations against Prashanta Kumar that he has amassed wealth through irregularities and corruption, according to the ACC officials.
