Mayor Jahangir’s bail order suspended

The Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division has suspended the High Court's order that granted bail to Bogra’s Dupchanchia Municipality Mayor Jahangir Alam.
Appellate division justice Md Ashfaqul Islam passed the order on Monday (March 25).
Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the anti-corruption commission (ACC) while Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi stood for the state.
Khurshid Alam Khan said that the accused Jahangir Alam forged the signature of a High Court judge and created a fake order. ACC investigation also proved his fraudulent activities. That’s why, we applied for suspension of his bail order. The court adjourned his bail till March 27.
Earlier on March 7, Jahangir Alam surrendered before the court of Bogura senior district and session judge A.K.M. Mozammal Haque Chowdhury. Meanwhile, the court sent him to jail rejecting bail plea. Later, an HC bench granted bail to him on March 21.
Sources said that couple of years ago, a case was filed against three people, including Jahangir, on the charge of delaying corruption charges against him by ten years through forging High Court order documents.
