DGHS issues 12-point directions to ensure medical care

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has issued 12-point directions to the all public and private hospitals to ensure uninterrupted medical care during Eid-ul-Fitr vacation.
A notification signed by Director (Hospitals and Clinics) Dr Abu Hossain Md Moinul Ahsan revealed the information on Sunday (March 31).
According to the notification, this year, there is a possibility of a long holiday due to Shab-e-qadr, Eid-ul-Fitr, Bengali New Year and weekends.
The directions include-
1. Staff can take leave in phases before and after Eid to ensure enough manpower.
2. Heads of the institutions will prioritise emergency services and public interest when granting leave.
3. The Civil Surgeon, by intimating the Divisional Directors, may coordinate the necessary manpower within his district only during the Eid holidays.
4. The full-time presence of a doctor in the emergency department should be ensured.
5. Emergency departments, labor rooms, emergency operation theatres should be kept open round the clock.
6. Daily supervision will be done by Unit Heads in Intra Division. Emergency lab and X-ray services should be kept open round the clock in medical college hospitals, specialized hospitals, district headquarters hospitals and upazila health complexes.
7. Hospitals will stock sufficient medicine, IV fluids, chemical re-agents, surgical supplies for the holiday period.
8. Ambulance service should be kept open round the clock.
9. Hospital heads will notify local authorities to enhance hospital security and will communicate regularly with staff working during the holidays, the directions stated.
10. Heads of organizations and heads of various departments will regularly communicate with the officers and employees providing holiday services and exchange greetings on Eid day.
11. If the head of the institution takes leave, they must designate a responsible person following proper procedures.
12. The head of the institution will supervise the serving of quality food to the patients on Eid day.
