The cabinet on Monday (April 1) rejected the recommendation of a holiday on April 9 ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The decision was taken at the Cabinet division meeting led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
After the meeting, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque revealed the matter.
He said that the cabinet did not approve the recommendations of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order. There are already many holidays this year. If April 9 is declared as holiday then the total leaves will be longer. This can cause stagnation in work.
Earlier, the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order recommended to extend the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday by one more day to make the journeys of homebound people free from hassle.
