261 jeeps being procured at cost of Tk 381 crore

The ministry of public administration is going to procure a total of 261 vehicles (jeeps) in a bid to bring speed in the government tasks including conducting mobile courts and maintaining law and order situation.
Each jeep will cost 1 crore 46 lakh 20 thousand taka, and the total cost to buy 261 jeeps will be 381 crore 58 lakh 20 thousand taka.
On October 11, 2023, the cabinet committee on economic affairs approved the proposal by the ministry of public administration. Then Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the virtual meeting.
But the proposal was sent back to the cabinet committee on public procurement meeting. Later, when the summary of the meeting was sent to the Prime Minister, then the Prime Minister gave instructions in this regard.
The proposal will be again placed at the meeting of cabinet committee on economic affairs and public procurement, to be held on Wednesday (May 15) with Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali in the chair. The notice of that meeting has already been issued.
