Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that her government has allocated 30 percent of national budget for the social and economic empowerment of women.
The government is conducting a comprehensive task of transforming the youth into public resources by educating them in modern education, she said.
The Premier made the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day event titled “ICPD30 Global Dialogue on Demographic Diversity and Sustainable Development” at Intercontinental Hotel here in the capital on Wednesday (May 15).
Sheikh Hasina said that the health policy has been formulated to ensure health services for all after the Awami League government came to power.
The Prime Minister said that the BNP-Jamaat government shut down the community clinic in 2001, resulting in the harm of the country’s public health services. However, after coming to power again, the government launched this service. Through this, infant and maternal mortality has been reduced a lot across the country.
The Premier said that more than 14,000 community clinics are currently in service, providing free medicines. Apart from this, many initiatives have played an important role in reducing child and child marriages.
