5 including mother, son killed in lightning strikes

Five people including a mother and her son have been killed in separate lightning strikes in Narsingdi and Gazipur districts.

Four people were killed in lightning strikes at Alokbali and Hazipur of Narsingdi at around 12:00pm on Saturday.

The deceased were known as Sufia Begum, 35, her son Imon Mia, 10, at Alokbali village, Kaium Mia, 20, son of Hatem Ali of the village, and Moslem Uddin, 55, at Hazipur Chokpara.

A woman was killed in another lightning strike at around 9:30am on Saturday at Galdapara village under Kowraid union of Kaliganj upazila in Gazipur district. The deceased is Fatema Akhtar, wife of Md. Nur Hossain.

Sub Inspector of Sreepur Thana Md Tansen Chowdhury confirmed the news.
