US reconsidering GSP facility for Bangladesh: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud has said the United Nations is reconsidering the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) facility for Bangladeshi goods to the their market.
The foreign minister said this at a discussion organized by Chattogram Metropolitan Awami League on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 44th Homecoming Day at the International Convention Hall at Kazir Deuri of the port city on Saturday (May 18) afternoon.
“US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu came to boost ties with Bangladesh. In the bilateral talks, he said about how to take the relationship forward”, he said.
“He has even expressed his country’s intention to return our GSP benefits if we do some reforms in some areas. At the same time, the USA is considering to help us from a special fund to overcome the global economic recession”, he said.
