457 platoons of BGB deployed for 2nd phase UP polls

A total of 457 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed to maintain law and order ahead of the second phase of Upazila Parishad Elections scheduled to be held on May 21.

BGB headquarters public relations officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Sunday (May 19).

He said that BGB will work as a striking force to maintain law and order in the election area from May 19 to May 23 under the “In Aid to the Civil Power”.

The campaign for the second phase of the Upazila Parishad election will end at midnight on Sunday. According to EC sources, all preparations for the second phase of elections are completed.
