The Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has decided to increase the price of water by 10% from 1 July.
In a notification issued on Wednesday (May 29), WASA attributed the price adjustment to inflation, in line with Section 22 of the WASA Act 1996.
For residential consumers, the new water price is Tk16.7 per unit (1,000 litres), up from Tk15.18. For commercial consumers, the price is now Tk46.2 per unit, up from Tk42, according to the notification.
This decision will also be effective in the case of unmetered holdings, deep tube wells, buildings under construction and all types of (water and sewage) charges including minimum bills, it added.
