“Around 17000 Malaysia-bound workers failed to fly”

State Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Shofiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that around 16,970 workers failed to go to Malaysia.

The minister said this while addressing a press conference at his secretariate office on Sunday afternoon (June 2).

He said the ministry has approved 526,676 people till May 31. Of them, 493,642 get clearance from BMET. According to our date, a total of 476,672 people went to Malaysia. So, more or less 16,970 people could not go to Malaysia.

The ministry formed a six-member probe committee to find the reasons behind the issue. The probe committee will submit its report within next seven days, the minister added.
