Ex-DU BCL leader sent to jail

Former President of Dhaka Universitys Salimullah Muslim Hall unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Mehedi Hasan and his associate Shahidul Islam were sent to jail on charge of taking extortion from traders at Palashi Bazar in the city.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam passed the order on yesterday (June 3).

Earlier, investigation officer Chawkbazar model police station Sub-Inspector Md Alamgir produced the accused before the court and filed a petition to keep the them behind bars.

Chawkbazar police station’s general registrar wing’s Sub-Inspector Md Salim confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning (June 4).
