Bulkhead sinks after being hit by passenger launch

Sand-laden a bulkhead capsized after being hit by a passenger launch in the Dhaleshwari river in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday night (June 5).

Police and witnesses said that the bulkhead sank around 8:30 pm when it was hit by a Patuakhali-bound passenger launch -- MV Pubali-9.

Muktarpur river police outpost In-charge Sajjad Karim said after the incident, the launch was anchored on the bank of the river.

In this incident, five staff members of the bulkhead managed to swim ashore.
