Finance Minister placing national budget

Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali is placing in the Parliament a Tk 797,000 crore national budget for the next fiscal year (FY24-25).

The budget session began at 3:00 pm. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury is presiding over the session.

This year's budget slogan is 'Commitment to building a happy, prosperous, developed and smart Bangladesh'. This is the finance minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali’s maiden budget announcement.

The size of the budget this year is Taka 797,000 crore.

Earlier, the cabinet at a special meeting approved the proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting held in the cabinet room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban around 12:00pm today.
