Siam now in Kolkata CID custody, says DMP

Siam, one of the key suspects in the murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar, has been taken into custody by Kolkata's Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Habibur Rahman revealed the information in a press conference at DMP media center in the capital on Friday (June 7).

He said, Kolkata CID has investigated this murder case. They have 2 accused. They took one from Nepal. Another person has already been arrested there.

In reply to a question, he said that the investigation takes place in that zone where the incident takes place. This is a set rule.

So far, five people have been arrested in Bangladesh, India and Nepal over the murder of MP Azim. Of them, three are now in Bangladesh and rest two in Kolkata.

Earlier, the MP travelled to India on May 12 apparently for treatment but went missing in Kolkata the next day. On May 22, Indian and Bangladeshi officials said Anar had been murdered, but his corpse could not be found.
