Inflation will ease by end of year: Finance Minister

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali has expressed hope that the inflation will begin to come down by the end of this year.
The finance minister said this at a post-budget press conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city on Friday. Finance Secretary Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mojumdar was present at the press conference.
With an eye towards battling inflation, Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali unveiled the Tk 7.97 lakh crore proposed national budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 on Thursday (6 June).
The government is hoping to contain inflation at 6.5 percent in the next fiscal year (FY25) with the help of the policies and strategies adopted by the government, said the minister while placing the national budget for FY25 at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban.
But the country’s inflation rate was over 9 per cent in last 14 months.
