DNCC to remove sacrificial waste within 6hrs: Atiqul

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam said that wastes of the sacrificial animals will be removed within six hours this Eid-ul-Azha.

The mayor said this at a ceremony marking the addition of 40 dump and compactor trucks for waste management to the DNCC fleet at the Gabtoli DNCC field in the capital on Wednesday morning.

Atiqul said councillors and DNCC officials will be on the field round the clock. Last year, the waste from Eid sacrifices was removed from the streets within eight hours, the mayor said, adding that this year they will be able to remove the sacrificial waste within the allotted 6 hours. 

Over 10,000 workers will be engaged in waste removal efforts and some 10.40 lakh polythene bags are being distributed, along with sufficient supplies of bleaching powder, Savlon, baskets, and phenyl have been provided, he added.
