Eid special launch service begins

The special launch service to carry homebound people during and after Eid-ul-Azha began Thursday (June 13).

More than 100 launches have been kept ready for the movement on 41 routes in the southern region.

According to Dhaka River Port Office of BIWTA's Maritime Safety and Traffic Management Department, the Eid special launch service will begin today and continue till June 23.

Mamun-or-Rashid, Convener of Dhaka River Port of Inland Navigation and Owner of MV Abhiyan Launch, said holiday in garments will start today. Besides, special launch services will also start today. We are prepared in this regard.

Due to the Padma Bridge, the terminal is not as crowded as before. But enough launches are ready to provide launch service, he added.

Joynal Abedin, director of BIWTA’s naval security and traffic management division, said that on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, preparations have been made for a special launch from today. However, depending on the presence of passengers, special launches will be operated.
