2.82crore toll collected in 24 hrs at Bangabandhu Bridge

The homebound rush ahead of the Eid-al-Adha holidays has led to a significant rise in traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail highway and Bangabandhu Bridge, resulting in a surge in their toll collection.

Within a span of 24 hours - from Tuesday midnight to Wednesday midnight – the toll collection of Bangabandhu Bridge reached Tk2,82,72,950.

Bangabandhu Bridge Site Office Executive Engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel confirmed the matter on Thursday morning (June 13).

According to the toll plaza of the bridge and police sources, 18,000 to 20,000 vehicles cross the bridge every day during normal times.  However, the traffic pressure more than doubles during Eid holidays.
