Poet Asim Saha no more

Ekushey Padak winner  Poet Asim Saha is no more.

The renowned poet breathed his last at around 4:00pm on Wednesday at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital Dhaka. 

He was 75 years.

Poet Faruk Mahmud confirmed the news.

He was sufferings from old age complications. 

Saha was born on 20 February in 1949 in his uncle’s house in Netrokona district.  His father Akhil Bandhu Saha was a professor.

He received Bangla Academy Literary Award for his contributions in poetry. In recognition of his contribution to Bengali language and literature, the government of Bangladesh awarded him the country's second highest civilian award Ekushey Padak in 2019.
