Egg price hits all-time high

The price of eggs has increased to Tk 165-170 a dozen, hitting low-income groups who rely heavily on them as an affordable source of protein.

Per dozen farm chicken eggs are being sold at Tk 165 to Tk 170. And in the retail market, eggs are being sold for Tk60.

After visiting several kitchen markets in the capital, this reporter found that the price of eggs has increased by Tk 5 and is being sold at Tk 55 to Tk60. A dozen eggs are being sold for Tk 160 to Tk 165 if bought from wholesale market, and up to Tk 170 in retail shops.

Abdur Rahman, an egg trader in the capital, told RisingBD that no idea can be given about the egg market condition as the production cost has not been determined.

On the other hand, the farmers said that the cost of chicken feed and accessories has increased. We have nothing to do.
