Matiur to be removed from Sonali Bank director post

Matiur Rahman, president of the National Board of Revenue’s (NBR) Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal, will be removed from the state-owned Sonali Bank PLC’s director post, said foreign minister Dr Hasan Mahmud.
The minister said this while addressing reporters at a program on the occasion of 75th founding anniversary of the ruling Awami League (AL) on Sunday (June 23).
Regarding the matter of Matiur Rahman, Dr Hasan Mahmud said that his news has been published in the newspaper. It's sad if it's true. National Board of Revenue officer Matiur Rahman has been removed from his current duties. Besides, the process of removing him from the post of director of Sonali Bank is also underway. Our government is against any form of corruption.
Earlier, Matiur Rahman was transferred to the Internal Resources Division (IRD) of the Ministry of Finance following the goat scandal.
Matiur Rahman’s name came into the limelight this Eid-ul-Azha after rumors surfaced that his son had bought a goat for Tk15 lakh.
The excessive price of the goat sparked widespread controversy.
