ACC forms probe team to inspect Matiur’s illegal wealth

A three-member team has been formed to investigate the allegations of corruption and acquisition of illegal wealth of Matiur Rahman, president of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal.
ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmin revealed the information in a press briefing at ACC’s Shegunbagicha office in the capital on Sunday (June 23).
He said that the commission decided to form a three-member committee to investigate allegations of illegal wealth acquisition and money laundering against Matiur on June 4. Committee members have already started their work.
The three members of the committee are – ACC Deputy Director Anwar Hossain, Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan, and Deputy Assistant Director Sabikun Nahar.
The committee was given to inquiry against Matiur Rahman over allegations of amassing illegal wealth, she added.
Matiur Rahman’s name came into the limelight this Eid-ul-Azha after rumors surfaced that his son had bought a goat for Tk15 lakh.
