`Jollad` Shahjahan passes away

'Jollad' Shahjahan, a much-talked executioner in Bangladesh, passed away on Monday (June 24).

The former chief hangman of Dhaka Central Jail died under treatment at Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

DMP Tejgaon zone’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station Sub-Inspector Mashiur Azam confirmed the matter to risingbd.

Family sources said that he died around 5:30 am. Later, his sister Feroza received the body from the hospital. After completing legal procedures, he will be buried at his village Isakhali village under Palash upazila of Narsingdi.

Earlier on June 18, 2023, Shahjahan Bhuiyan, the 74-year-old hangman of Dhaka Central Jail, was freed after serving over three decades in prison.
