ADC Saklain to be sent to forced retirement over Pori Moni scandal

The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a primary decision to send Golam Saklain, former additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), to forced retirement over actress Pori Moni scandal.

The ministry sought the opinion of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) in this regard.

In a letter to the PSC from the Ministry of Home Affairs, it was said Saklain had an illegal relationship with actress Pori Moni. He used to live at Pori Moni’s house. And when his wife was absent, Pori Moni used to stay at Saklain’s house.

On August 7, 2021, DMP withdrew additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Md Golam Saklain from the Gulshan Division of DB on the basis of allegations of misconduct with actress Pori Moni during an investigation.

Several media reports said Saklain had engaged in unprofessional conduct with Pori Moni while supervising a case filed by the actress on June 13, 2021, against five persons, including businessman Nasir U Mahmud, former president of Uttara Club.

Pori Moni had levelled allegations of rape and physical torture against businessman Nasir U Mahmud.

The next day, Mahmud was arrested from his Uttara residence.
