2nd submarine cable launched after 2 months

The country’s second submarine cable has been repaired over two months after it snapped near Singapore.

The internet speed revived in the country following the repair of the submarine cable.

Saidur Rahman, general manager at state-run Bangladesh Submarine Cables PLC, has confirmed the development.

The consortium of the submarine cable, referred to as South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 5 (SEA-ME-WE 5), completed repair works at 10:40 am on Friday (June 28), Saidur said.

The Bangladeshi point of the cable is installed at Kuakata in Patuakhali and it broke down near Singapore on April 19, hampering internet connection.
