Govt to set up new company for Padma Bridge maintenance

The government will establish a separate company to manage the Padma Multipurpose Bridge. 

A cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, approved such a  decision on Monday. 

Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain briefed the newsmen after the meeting 

He said the company will be named ‘Padma Bridge Operations and Maintenance Company PLC’. It will be a 100 per cent government owned company and it would have Tk 1,000 crore in authorised capital. 

The company would have a 14-member board of directors and would operate under the Company Act.
