Quader to meet protesting teachers Thursday

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will sit with the teachers observing work abstention to press home their demand for withdrawal of ‘discriminatory notification’ relating to the Universal Pension Scheme.

The meeting will be held on Thursday (July 4) morning.

Prof Dr Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan, general secretary of the Federation of Bangladesh University Teachers Association (FBUTA) and president of the Dhaka University Teachers Association, confirmed this information on Wednesday (July 3).

The FBUTA called for a boycott of classes, examinations, and administrative work starting Monday (July 1), protesting the implementation of Prottoy, a new pension scheme introduced by the National Pension Authority.

The announcement was made during a press conference on Dhaka University campus.
