Polls in 2 Dhaka city to be held in January

After the nationwide upazila elections, the Election Commission (EC) is preparing to hold elections in two city corporations in Dhaka.
Through announcing the election schedule in December this year, the EC has a primary plan to hold the elections in January (2025).
The Election Commission (EC) will send letters to the Local Government and Rural Development to know any barriers on the way to the elections. After getting the response, the EC will hold a formal meeting regarding the polls.
Following the issue, the Election Commission Additional Secretary Ashok Kumar Debnath said that the two city corporations of Dhaka will not be held before the January. There is still enough time for this election. All preparations will be made to hold elections on time.
The elections in Dhaka North and South City were held though EVM on February 1, 2020. The two main political parties joined the polls with their party symbols. However, this time Awami League may not use the party symbol in this election.
