Govt to buy 10 planes as per evaluation committee report

Civil aviation and tourism minister M Faruk Khan this is the first time there is a tough competition between America and Europe to sell aircraft in Bangladesh.

However, Biman Bangladesh Airlines will purchase new aircraft in line with its evaluation committee's recommendation, he said.

The minister said this while addressing reporters after a meeting with the outgoing US ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas at the secretariat on Sunday (July 7).

Faruk Khan said the process of buying the aircraft will be completed within the next one to two months. The government wants to buy 10 aircraft. But for now, 4 will be bought.

He also said that we want to buy new aircraft. Because we need aircraft to expand our fleet. Both Boeing and Airbus are competing in this field. They submitted their proposal to Biman. The proposal is currently being evaluated by a high-powered committee.
