Govt to bear medical expenses for Rath Jatra injured: Health Minister

Health Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen announced that the government will bear the medical expenses of those injured in electrocution during the Rath Jatra in Bogura.

“We will try our best to ensure proper treatment for those injured in the electrocution during the Rath Jatra in Bogura,” he said.

In a condolence message on Monday (July 8), the Health and Family Welfare Minister expressed his profound grief over the tragic incident and wished for the swift recovery of the injured. He also extended deep sympathies to the families of the deceased.

He also instructed the director of the government hospital and the civil surgeon in Bogura to ensure proper and swift medical treatment for the injured.

Earlier, the pathetic incident took place while the Ratha Yatra, started at the Iskcon temple in Seujgari, came into contact with an electric wire in Seujgari Amtala area in Bogura city, leaving many people critically injured.

Of the injured, four people died at Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital while another succumbed to his injuries at Mohammad Ali Hospital in Bogura.
