Court hearing on freedom fighter quota today

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for today (10 July) regarding a fresh plea challenging the High Court's judgment to reinstate the freedom fighter quota system for first and second-class government jobs.
Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, chamber judge of the Appellate Division, fixed the date on Tuesday (July 9).
Earlier, on June 5, the High Court declared illegal the circular that cancelled the quotas, including those for freedom fighters, in first and second-class government jobs.
Later, on June 9, the state filed an application to suspend the judgment of the High Court. On July 4, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the High Court’s verdict.
