Students block roads around Shahbagh

Students have blocked the road in the capital's Shahbagh area this morning, enforcing a day-long Bangla Blockade programme to press home their one-point demand of a quota reform for government jobs.
Earlier, the protesting students started to form a rally in front of the central library of the Dhaka University around 10:00 am on Wednesday (July 10).
Sources said that students also put blockade in Science Lab intersection, Chankharpur, Mahakhali, Paltan areas.
On the contrary, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court today issued a status quo on a High Court verdict that declared the decision to cancel quota system, including the first and second-class freedom fighter (FF) quota in government jobs, illegal. A five-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the order.
Sarjis Alam, a coordinator of the movement, said that our demand is to the government. Not to the court. We want quota reforms in all grades at a rational level.
