38 die from snake bikes in 6 months: DGHS

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that a total of 38 people suffering from snake bites have succumbed to their injuries across the country so far this year.
The DGHS disclosed the information at a press conference on Wednesday (July 10).
During 1 February-9 July in 2024, 610 snake bite incidents were recorded across the country and 38 have died so far, according to the DGHS.
Of the total fatalities, 11 occurred in Rajshahi division, including five from the venom of Russel’s Viper, it said.
Most patients suffering from snake bites were found in Rajshahi division and the number of the patients are 416 in the division, it added.
