Court doors open for quota protesters: Chief Justice

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has said that the court is always open for the quota protesters.
He said this while speaking to senior lawyers and Supreme Court leaders during a case hearing in the Appellate Division on Thursday (July 11).
He said, “Advise those who are agitating about quota, why do they talk about the executive department? Any decision of the executive department can be challenged in court.”
Earlier, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court issued a status quo on a High Court verdict that declared the decision to cancel quota system, including the first and second-class freedom fighter (FF) quota in government jobs, illegal.
As a result of this order, the circular issued by the government in 2018 cancelling the freedom fighter quota will be upheld, lawyers said.
