Protesters block Shahbagh intersection removing police barricade

Students and job seekers blocked the Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka to enforce their ‘Bangla Blockade’ programme on Thursday afternoon, removing police barricade.

Although they were scheduled to throng in front of the central library of Dhaka University at around 3:30pm, it took them time to gather at the spot due to rain.

Several thousand demonstrators marched towards the busy intersection. Law enforcers also took position at the intersection and put-up barricades. 

Agitating students blocked Shahbagh intersection, erecting barricades. 

Nahid Hasan, one of the coordinators of ‘Anti-Discrimination Student Movement’ said the movement will continue until their demands are met.

Hours before, activists and leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of the ruling Awami League, also gathered at Madhur Canteen.
