Students take to streets with sticks protesting attack

Students from different educational institutions have blocked Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the capital, protesting the attack on students and demanding cancellation of quota system in government jobs.
The protesting students of Dania University College, Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College and adjacent colleges blocked the highway around 11 am on Tuesday (July 16).
The protesters have taken position at Kajla bus stand. Many of them have flags on their heads and many have flags in their hands. Some of them were carrying bamboo sticks and wood. They say that Chhatra League has carried out an attack on quota reform protesters. They may also come under attack. In order to resist them, they are carrying bamboo sticks and wood with them.
A student named Taskin said, “Chhatra League is carrying out the attack on the protesting students and many students have already been injured so far. We have kept them with us to resist the attackers if they attack.”
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC-Wari Zone) of the DMP Masudur Rahman urged the students to leave the streets so that vehicles can ply.
