229 BGB platoons deployed across the country

The government has deployed 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to maintain law and order situation across the country centering today's "complete shutdown" programme announced by quota reform protesters.
BGB public relations officer Shariful Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday (July 18).
Earlier on Wednesday night, Asif Mahmud, a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, announced the “complete shutdown” programme.
No vehicles except ambulances, media vehicles, and vehicles engaged in emergency services will run on the road.
