People in Dhaka have experienced disrupted mobile data services amid the countrywide ‘complete shutdown’ announced by protesters demanding quota reform in government jobs.
Since the early hours today (July 18), users in the capital and neighbouring areas reported facing significant inconvenience due to the ongoing disruption.
They were facing significant problems during the use of popular social media applications such as Facebook and Messenger.
Users say 4G network is not working on their mobile. As a result, they cannot use the internet on their mobile device. Apart from social media, various internet services are also being disrupted since this morning. As a result, the city dwellers are facing serious problems in mobile communication. Broadband services are being used continuously.
However, no official statement was received from any operator or regulatory body Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) regarding the slowness of mobile internet.
