Fresh clash erupts at Shanir Akhra

Shanir Akhra area in Jatrabari turned into a battlefield following clashes of police and protesters in multiple phases on Thursday morning (July 18).

Following the clash, a huge number of vehicles got stuck in Hanif flyover.

Sources said bringing a rally, quota protesters tried to move towards Shanir Akhra around 11:00am. Meanwhile, law enforcers fired teargas and sound grenades to disperse them that triggered the clash.

At one stage, the clash spread to Jatrabari from Shanir Akhra and Kazla areas.

Traffic on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway has been closed for more than 24 hours.
