Chase, counter-chase between students, AL activists at Mirpur-10

Students demonstrating for quota reform have taken position at the capital’s Mirpur-10 intersection.
They took position after 12 pm on Thursday (July 18).
It is learnt that Awami League leaders and activists were holding a rally at Mirpur-10 intersection around 11 am. When the protesting students started gathering there, the Awami League activists left the spot. At this time, a chase and counter-chase took place between students and the Awami League activists. Police were not seen taking any action even though they were present at the spot.
Meanwhile, the government has deployed 229 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to maintain law and order situation across the country centering today’s “complete shutdown” programme announced by quota reform protesters.
