Asaduzzaman Noor MP convoy attacked: 3 killed

District Correspondent, NILPHAMARI, Dec 15: At least three people were killed and scores injured as activists of Jamaat-Shibir attacked a convoy of acclaimed actor and member of the parliament (MP) Asaduzzaman Noor in Ramganj in the district on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Khurshid Alam Chowdhury, a leader of Bangladesh Krishok Sramik Janata League (BKSJL), Siddik Gazi, an activist of BNP and Farhad Hossain, organizing secretary of union Juba League..

However, Asaduzzaman Noor was safe.

Witnesses said the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing, Islami Chhatra Shibir suddenly attacked on the convoy of Asaduzzaman Noor at Ramganj Bazar around 5pm while he was returning to the district city from Lakshmichap Bazar.

Police fired teargas and rubber bullets to disperse the attackers. The Jamaat-Shibir men then locked into clash with the cops that left three dead and at least twenty injured.

The injured were admitted to Nilphamari sadar hospital.
