Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) said that vehicles owners can update their expired fitness, tax-token and route permit papers within September 16 without paying any fines as the papers will be valid till then.
The BRTA extended the deadline in a notification on Wednesday (July 31).
According to the notification, BRTA server and IS inside the BRTA were damaged after miscreants torched, vandalised and looted their headquarters in the capital’s Banani area on July 18 and 19 during the quota reform movement.
Due to this, fitness, tax-token, route permit, driving license renewal or renewal, advance income tax collection and new vehicle registration are not possible.
Owners who are supposed to update their papers on July 19, 2024 and those who were scheduled to do that by September 15 will get a time extension until September 16. In the meantime, efforts are underway to activate the damaged server and IS.
