Hearing on petition seeking directive not to shoot students postponed today too

The High Court will not hold the hearing today too on the writ petition seeking release of six quota protest coordinators and to stop use of live rounds on demonstrators as a judge of the bench is on leave.

The HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon was scheduled to hold a hearing and pass an order on the petition on Thursday (August 1).

However, Justice SM Masud Hossain Dolon, the junior judge of the bench, is on leave due today too.

The justice could not attend the office yesterday as well due to the same reason.

Earlier, the Supreme Court lawyers Ainun Nahar Siddiqa and Manzur Al Matin filed the petition, which also sought the release of six coordinators from the Detective Branch custody, on Monday, keeping the cabinet secretary, secretary of the home ministry, inspector general of police and others concerned as respondents to the petition.
