Light to moderate rain predicted over country

Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued a notification in this regard on Friday (August 2).

According to the bulletin, the axis of monsoon trough runs through Punjab, Hariyana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay.

Maritime ports of the country have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one to avoid accidents.
