Teenager shot in quota reform movement succumbs to injuries

Another teenager, who suffered bullet wounds during the recent clashes centring the quota protests, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early Saturday (August 3).

The deceased Md Emon, 17, son of late Md Selim of Cumilla’s Muradnagar upazila. He lived with his elder sister Tahmina in the capital’s Badda area.

Emon succumbed to his bullet injuries while undergoing treatment at the DMCH around 3:15 am.

Emon’s elder sister Tahmina said that Emon used to work in a hotel on the footpath of Gulshan. On July 19, he left his home to join work. In the meantime, he was shot in the middle of a clash in the Natun Bazar area. He was admitted to DMCH in critical condition. He died early today while undergoing treatment there.

DMCH police outpost in-charge Md Bacchu Mia confirmed the information.

“The body of the teenager was kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy. After the end of autopsy, the body will be handed over to relatives,” Bachchu Mia said.
