Operations of public transports have remained suspended on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on the first day of ‘all-out non-cooperation’ programme against the government from Sunday (August 4) to realise the one-point demand of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet’s resignation, announced by the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.

Due to the unavailability of public transports, people who left homes for joining their work are facing huge sufferings.

After visiting Kajla and Shanir Akhra areas of the capital on Sunday (August 4) morning, it was seen that three-wheelers are seen running on the roads. Those, who have left the houses, are in trouble due to lack of public transport. People waiting for public transport are seen standing for long time at various stoppages. Getting no public transport, many people took rickshaws and many others walked on foot to their destinations.

A job holder named Tanvir Alam said, “My office is in Motijheel. There is no bus on the streets. Only auto-rickshwas, rickshaws are operating but they are charging high.”
