President dissolves 12th parliament

President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the 12th parliament to make way for the formation of an interim government.

President’s Press Wing issued a press release on Tuesday (August 6).

Based on the decision from a meeting of President Shahabuddin with the heads of the three armed forces, leaders of various political parties, representatives of civil society and leaders of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, the national parliament has been dissolved, according to the press release.
